Ubalde pointed out that today, effective site selection professionals, companies, and economic developers are interacting in more productive ways powered by the Internet. His session included the presentation of new data never seen before about the ways site selection professionals and economic development professionals are engaging each other and the key trends that will meaningfully impact their future work.
As the event drew to a close, participants gathered for lunch and the closing session, “When Cash Is King.” Business Facilities Editor in Chief Jack Rogers moderated a discussion between two international experts: David Atkins, Chairman and CEO, Atkins International LLC; and Ed McCallum, Senior Principal, McCallum Sweeney Consulting. The panel discussed how the global financial system is broken and it may take years to repair it. The speakers explored the idea that in an era of fierce competition and limited opportunities, the ability to maximize financial resources and serve a global market are two critical keys to success, and discussed the most successful strategies for surviving and thriving in the “new normal.”
